The Brief
Peerutin Karol Architects in Cape Town had been struggling to manage social media in-house for some time. Over many years they had gone through iterations of personnel in the office being responsible for these channels, and yet had always encountered the issue of social media being deprioritised to other tasks in the practice and ‘running out of content’. Another challenge was that no one in the company had access to their Meta account – preventing connecting Instagram and Facebook or running ads on either platform – something that comes up surprisingly often in our experience.
In addition, despite being one of the most lauded architecture firms in South Africa, they had never done any PR or press management and were interested in having their work featured in magazines and online publications, both locally and internationally.
Our solution
To begin with, we developed a social media strategy that would leverage their archive of content going back decades, while showcasing new work – bearing in mind that architectural projects take many years to reach fruition and so completed projects may only happen a couple times a year. Each new project, however, has the opportunity for multiple talking points across various media formats – from photography and video to stories that could become magazine articles, social media posts or blogs. Our strategy looked at a range of content pillars within the architecture firm, from architecture and design to office culture and people, to the brand itself and company milestones.
From there, we have worked on rolling out the strategy across multiple social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
In addition, we have developed a press strategy to target select publications with new content and stories around completed projects.
