Boland-based property development group Duvelop wanted to get their business online, starting with a website.
The purpose of the website was manifold:
- To showcase the beautiful properties they develop
- To provide clients with relevant information about their (prospective) purchase
- To offer useful information and insights about the industry in general
- To demonstrate brand value by sharing content that appeals to the brand’s audience
- To position the Duvelop brand as a key player in its particular market niche
- To facilitate enquiries and property viewings with agents
Taking the time to interrogate the brand proved to be very useful. We spent time with the property developer to understand his needs and his thinking, and also visited the site to get a sense of the space.
Next we worked on a brand positioning for Duvelop, which considered things such as the business context, audience profile and competitive environment, and made strategic recommendations based on this analysis, which went on to inform both the development and design of the website.
Using big images of the estate and properties help to achieve a look and feel that reflects both a sense of community and aspirations, with an underlying sense of “home is where they heart is”.
A unique content offering includes a community section with information about surrounding places of interest to visit, and a blog with community and industry news.
An important functional requirement allows agents to easily upload and manage property listings on the site as they sell or become available. This is scalable, allowing for multiple agents, properties and developments, so that the website can grow with the business.
Orientation is key to the user experience and by keeping it fairly simple by using dropdown menus, navigation around the site is easy and highly effective. It was also important to find the right solution for grouping all the information related to a specific property, in a way that allows for the style to be consistently applied to all the properties.
Mobile visitors are frequent so attention was paid to getting the mobile menu user experience just right and pages were designed using a mobile-first approach.
The final result is a clean, simple website that showcases the properties using beautiful images while providing all the necessary information about the homes and their location to assist a buyer in making their big decision.
